Overview
Neutral Density (ND) filters, measured in f-stops, feature an evenly distributed coating that reduces the amount of light entering the camera lens by a specific degree of strength. These filters range from 3-stops, which cut down the available light by about half, to 16.6-stops, allowing only 1/32,000th of the light to pass through. ND filters are essential for controlling exposure in bright conditions, enabling longer shutter speeds or wider apertures without overexposing the image. This makes them particularly valuable for landscape photography, long exposure shots, and achieving motion blur effects in bright daylight.
